چکیده

A-optimality of block designs for control versus test comparisons in diallel crosses is investigated. A sufficient condition for designs to be A-optimal is derived. Type S 0 designs are defined and A-optimal type S 0 designs are characterized. A lower bound to the A-efficiency of type S 0 designs is also given. Using the lower bound to A-efficiency, type S 0 designs are shown to yield efficient designs for test versus control comparisons.

Robustness of Diallel Cross Designs Against the Loss of Any Number of Observations ( Crosses ) in a Block

The robustness of universal optimal binary balanced block (BBB) designs for diallel crosses has been investigated for the loss of any t (~1) observations (crosses) in a single block as per connectedness and A-efficiency criteria. It is observed that all the BBB designs for diallel crosses with the minimum eigenvalue strictly greater than 2 are robust as per connectedness criterion. Further A-ef...

Optimal Designs for Best Linear Unbiased Prediction in Diallel Crosses

Most of the available results on optimal block designs for diallel crosses are based on standard linear model assumptions where the general combining ability effects are taken as fixed. In many practical situations, this assumption may not be tenable since often one studies only a sample of inbred lines from a possibly large (hypothetical) population. Recently Ghosh and Das (2003) proposed a ra...

Diallel Analysis Using Sas

A set of crosses produced by involving 'n' lines in all possible combinations is designated as diallel cross and the analysis of such crosses is known as diallel analysis. Such an analysis provides information on (i) the nature and amount of genetic parameters and (ii) general and specific combining ability of parents and their crosses, respectively. The two main approaches being followed for d...

Genetic analysis of seed yield and oil content in safflower using F1 and F2 progenies of diallel crosses

Improvement of seed yield and oil content in safflower (Carthamus tinctorius L.) as an oilseed crop is the main objective of its breeding programs. However, little genetic information is available for these traits. The main objective of this study was to estimate genetic parameters for seed yield and oil content. Six safflower lines each derived from different Iranian local populations and Saff...
